“If a composer suffers from loss of sleep and his sleeplessness induces him to turn out masterpieces, what a profitable loss it is!” - Antoine De Saint-Exupery
Saint-Exupery's words ring true for many artists - if you can imagine it, it can be created. This is especially relevant in the case of music, where a composer can take an abstract idea and turn it into a masterpiece. However, the process of creating music is not always easy, and many composers suffer from sleeplessness. While this may seem like a hindrance, Saint-Exupery argues that it can actually be beneficial. The lack of sleep can induce a sense of creativity and allow the composer to produce truly remarkable pieces of music. In other words, what may initially seem like a loss can actually be quite profitable. So the next time you're struggling to get some shut-eye, remember that you may just be on your way to compose your next great work of art.
